Child Restraint Systems (Car Seats)

A confirmed PAL Airlines ticket must be purchased for your child if you wish for them to travel in a Transport Canada approved infant restraint device on board our aircraft.

The following child restraint devices may be used on a PAL Airlines plane provided they have the following label:

Canadian manufactured systems:

A compliance label must be affixed stating the system has been certified to the Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 213 or 213.1, and indicating the date of manufacture as being after January 1, 1981.

American manufactured systems:

For systems manufactured American standards between January 1, 1981 and February 25, 1985, a label must be affixed stating: “This child restraint system conforms to all applicable Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards” (FMVSS).

For systems manufactured after February 26, 1985 two labels are required:
1) “This child restraint system conforms to all applicable FMVSS” and
2) “CERTIFIED FOR USE IN MOTOR VEHICLES AND AIRCRAFT” in red lettering.

PAL Airlines will also accept for use on board our aircraft’s a new child restraint system, Child Aviation Restraint System (CARES). This device is harnessed into the seat belt on board our aircraft and can be used in the as an alternative to the child restraint system. This device can be used by children at least one year of age and between 20-44lbs and up to 40 inches in height.

Unfortunately, we do not allow booster seats to be used on board.
