Dangerous Goods

PAL Airlines Cargo provides first class service when handling dangerous goods. We are second-to-none in safety, reliability and efficiently when it comes to transporting your specialized cargo.

All transportation of Dangerous Goods must be accompanied by proper declaration forms from a certified agent. All shipments must abide by Transport Canada’s regulations for the Transportation of Dangerous Goods. For more information on these regulations and how to comply, please click here.

Dangerous goods are defined as articles or substances capable of posing significant risk to health, safety, or property when transported by air. As the person shipping dangerous goods, you have additional responsibilities:

  • All dangerous objects and/or substances must be both fully and correctly identified.
  • Each dangerous good must be classified under one of the nine pre-determined classes and, where relevant, any secondary hazards must be identified as well.
  • Your goods must be assigned to one of the three packing groups within its class.

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) categorizes dangerous goods into nine classes:

Class 1

  • Explosives
Class 2

  • Gas
Class 3

  • Flammable Liquids
Class 4

  • Flammable Solids
Class 5

  • Oxidizing Substances and Organic Peroxides
Class 6

  • Poisonous (Toxic) and Infectious Substances
Class 7

  • Radioactive Materials
Class 8

  • Corrosives
Class 9
Miscellaneous articles and substances, including:

  • Asbestos
  • Dry ice
  • Environmentally hazardous substances
  • Life-saving devices
  • Machines incorporating internal combustion engines
  • Magnetized material
  • Polymeric beads
  • Self-propelled vehicles
  • Zinc dithionite
  • And any liquid or solid that has anesthetic, noxious, or other similar properties which could cause extreme annoyance or discomfort to PAL Airlines passengers and/or flight crew.
